Megan Carmitchel stars in Lamb’s Players Theatre’s production of “Alice,” which opens on Saturday.Ī far cry from Alice in Wonderland, the tattooed Charity Hope Valentine struts herself at the Fandango Ballroom in the longtime-popular musical “Sweet Charity.” Theater powerhouses created this show, which opened on Broadway in 1966: composer Cy Coleman, playwright Neil Simon and choreographer/director Bob Fosse among them. Her story was turned into a stage musical by Elizabeth Swados four decades ago, with Alice having been played onstage by many actors since, including Meryl Streep.
